INTRODUCTION

I have a passion for using knowledge and understanding about the past to help create social and environmental benefits for the future. Public engagement with heritage supports the well-being of future generations.

I am currently CEO of a third-sector organisation which delivers archaeology and cultural heritage services in Wales and England. We provide public services for Welsh Government and local authorities, as well as commercial research and development management services for the private sector.

I also serve as a non-executive director of other heritage and environmental organisations.

Previous roles have included cultural heritage consultant, university lecturer, director of archaeology in a World Heritage Site, museum archaeologist, project manager and field archaeologist. Most of my work has been in the UK and elsewhere in Europe, but with periods in North America and Australia as well.

I have expertise in

  • charity and corporate governance and leadership
  • organisational management, change management and project management
  • cultural heritage and archaeological method and practice
  • planning law, heritage law, protected landscapes
  • community archaeology, public heritage, heritage interpretation and museums.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling, walking and cycling through the beautiful and varied landscapes of Shropshire and mid-Wales, photography, random creative DIY, gardening, tinkering with bicycles.
